May 19, 2011 at 5:09 am (Things to do) (, )

Now that you’re planning a family you’re going to need to be on the lookout for family oriented activities. Texas is definitely on board the when it comes to family fun. Some of the things to look forward for families this summer in Texas are explained below.

Texas Family Fun in June 1st-25th

There’s all sorts of fun just waiting for you this summer in Texas. Here’s a sample. The Billy the Kid Festival takes place in San Elizario, Texas on June 10 through the 12th. Enjoy stagecoach rides, historical events, plays, presentations and reenactments, tours, arts and crafts, pony rides, carnival rides, live music and look alike contests. The Western Days Festival will be held in Elgin, Texas June 21 through the 25. This is the 42nd anniversary of this annual event. It is five fun packed days of activities for every one; young and old alike. Dancing, a beauty contest, carnival, and a giant parade are just some of the festivity’s high points. Horseshoes, volleyball, arts and crafts, live music, softball and good old down home cookin’ will be there too.

June 23 through the 26th

The Luling Watermelon Thump will take place on the 23rd through that 26th with continuous live entertainment, carnival, seed spitting contest, arts and crafts, a parade and one more thing…. Oh yes; watermelon. Bandera River fest presents river rodeo and kayak races and more on June 25 in Bandera, Texas. Fun for all ages, guaranteed. Boeme Texas is proud to present a family affair September 2 through 4 that goes by the name of the Kendall County Fair. Who can resist a county fair?

Bandera is serious about their family events because they have not only one but two. The second is a celebration of cowboys (what little kid hasn’t dreamed of being a cowboy?) September 2 – 4.

Don’t forget to purchase 1st ever baby wipes for your weekend trip.
