Have you ever been to a beer festival? Beer festivals are a really good time. Not only is there food, but there is also lots of different things to look at.

Texas Beer

Texas is a huge state. This huge state also has some amazing beer festivals. Since the state is so large, you will be able to find a festival very easily. One way to find a festival is reading the local newspaper. The local newspaper will have all of the relevant information you need, so that you can go to the festival. Another way to find out about a festival is by reading fliers that restaurants often have posted on their walls. So if you are interested in the local events, you might want to take your time and go over to the wall and check out what is posted. If you are a visitor in town, and do not know what is going on, you might ask around. Most hotels will be able to give you the information you need. When checking into a hotel in Texas, simply ask the front desk what events are coming up.

So Many Beers, So Little Time

Let’s face it, we can’t drink everything we see. Therefore we need to have a plan, so we can taste other beers. One idea is to have a small budget and a cashcard, so that each festival you attend you can actually buy some of the bottled beer. This simple method will allow you to be able to taste all of the beers at your own convenience. Then you won’t have to rush or be inconvenienced.

Enjoying festivals and Texas is a wonderful time. Getting to find out what Texas is all about can be very entertaining, because people know how to party. Don’t forget to check out their barbecue ribs as well.

Understanding the Rules of Texas Hold ‘em

December 20, 2011 at 8:40 pm (Things to do) (, )

Texas Hold ‘Em is a simple game that can be learned in a few minutes. Within a few hours of practice you can own an early level of mastery of the game. To play competitively, much practice will be required. When practicing many recommend online practice as this gives a lot of details and nuances such as shuffling, dealing and comprehending how to observe who has the best hand. When playing in person it can be tempting to place money bets before you are actually ready.

1) The game begins by posting your ante on the table.

2) The dealer then shuffles the deck and each player gets two cards face down. These are called pocket cards, or hole cards.

3) Next is the round of betting. Players can call, raise, fold or bet.

4) The dealer then discards the top card on the deck. This is the burn card, and prevents cheating.

5) Next, the dealer flips three cards, one after the other onto the table. This is called the flop, and these cards are free for players to pick up and use if needed.

6) The player on the left of the dealer bets again, and often the bets will double.

7) The player on the left of the dealer will bet again, and the dealer will again burn and flip during this turn.

8) Again, the player left of the dealer begins betting, and doubling often occurs.

9) The dealer burns again. Then he will place a final card on the table face-up. Known as the river, this play allows players to use any of their five cards or the two in their pockets. This forms a five-card poker hand.

10) A final round of betting ensues. Then there is the showdown.

11) Everyone who hasn’t folded reveals their hands.

12) If there is a split win, the pot is split. Otherwise the player with the best hand wins.

There are a few variants on the game, however the basic structure remains the same. A true mastery of the game is really only won through much practice and many games of trial and error. Practicing online is free if you are a person with no one else to practice or study the game with. It is easy to learn, yet with most poker games, very difficult to truly master.

Jumping in to bet too soon can lead to losses. Mastery of the game before betting is always recommended.

Texas Blackjack

December 17, 2011 at 7:00 am (Things to do) (, )

Playing blackjack in Texas is a great game to enjoy when passing time at the casino or other off-site location. There are several blackjack dealers located in Texas that can host games for avid blackjack gamblers. No matter where you play blackjack, Texas or any other state, there are facts and truisms that every gambler needs to remember. Gambling is illegal in most places around the country so always make sure the blackjack dealer in Texas is legitimate.

The Law and IRS

Many people gamble illegally in Texas without giving the ramifications a second thought; gamblers need to be aware of the risks they assume when they gamble uninformed in Texas. State police or the federal government can arrest anyone in Texas caught for illegal gambling so make sure everything is on the level before you place your bet. Choosing a credible dealer will also help ensure you get the winnings, you deserve when you are ready to cash out. The IRS advises gamblers in Texas to keep a log to record every gambling session throughout the year.

Win Blackjack in Texas

Blackjack in Texas is like anywhere else for the most part; the game is simple for almost anyone to comprehend. Simple does not translate as easy all the time; the wise gambler prepares for blackjack opposed to just hoping for luck. You can start on wikipedia, if you like. Blackjack in Texas heavily relies on the power of the memory of the gambler; this how so few people are able to count cards and beat the casino’s odds. The more you understand and prepare for winning at blackjack in Texas, the more successful you will be at the table.

Blackjack in Texas creates a high-risk high-reward situation for gamblers, much like in any other state. The gambler needs to be aware of the Texas laws, expectations from the IRS for each tax year, and strategies to improve the rate of successful wagers.

Why Go To Vegas? Why Leave Texas?

December 14, 2011 at 1:39 am (Things to do) (, , , )

Let’s face it.  We’ve all got it good in the great state of Texas. Frankly I don’t ever want to leave.  I live and die in Texas.  So when my friends all gear up for a Vegas vacation I have to chuckle.  Who wants to go to stinky Las Vegas?  I can get all that casino action online.  I can play my roulette or poker online. I can go watch the dancing girls right here at home.  So what does Las Vegas have to offer me?

Nothing.

God Bless Texas.

A Southern Approach to Sports Betting

December 4, 2011 at 3:30 am (Things to do) ()

Millions of dollars are put on the line nationwide each weekend on pro and college sports (chiefly football and basketball) and with online betting. Even though online sportsbook have pretty much erased geographic boundaries, there’s still a different flavor to sports betting “Down South”.

Home-Grown Champions

It starts with the South Eastern Conference (SEC), inarguably the most powerful athletic conference among NCAA Division I schools. This is especially the case when it comes to football; in all likelihood, two SEC teams (LSU and Alabama) will face each other in this year’s NCAA championship game.

All Points of the Compass

Those who take bets for a living know that SEC teams historically dominate schools from other conferences in BCS bowl games. Who would be a more astute follower of SEC schools than people who live in the South? There are also a plethora of NFL teams south of the Mason-Dixon Line, from Miami to San Diego. Don’t forget to bet on the super bowl.
It also doesn’t hurt that the grand-daddy of all horse races, the Kentucky Derby, is held in the land of biscuits and gravy, mint juleps and Spanish moss. There are also brick-and-mortar sports books in the ever-expanding Native American casinos, such as the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi.
