State Fair of Texas
Like everything else that Texas has to offer, the Texas State Fair is big. Based in Dallas, this festival lasts three weeks, so it would be difficult for you to miss it. It usually begins in late September. The festival showcases a lively carnival, art competitions, an auto show, and a livestock show, among other things. The most popular event the fair has to offer is the “Red River Shoot-Out”, which is a hugely anticipated football game between rival teams from the University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma.
Strawberry Festival
It sounds fun and delicious, and it is. Not to mention wildly popular. The Strawberry Festival takes place in the tiny town of Poteet, and it attracts over 100,000 visitors every year. The festival takes place in April, which means lots of people taking advantage of the new spring weather and spring break to get down to the shows, which include a rodeo, dances, a parade, and the “Taste of Texas” food show. For the past 60 years, the fair has also attracted national country music stars.
