Divorce can be a mind-numbing, exhaustive experience, and those who are going through it should remember to take some time for themselves and that doesn’t mean going out to lunch with your Arlington divorce lawyer. For some people, this could mean heading off to a day spa. Others may want to get back to nature. Those who live near (or are willing to travel to) Austin, Texas will have a unique opportunity for some fun self-maintenance: The annual Texas Hill Food and Drink Festival.

Entertainment – Lone Star Style

There’s plenty more to do than just sample the food and spirits at the Texas Hill Fest, as the 9,000 or so people who attend each year can attest. Some of the area’s renowned chefs will be on hand to share recipes and demonstrate cooking methods from all over the world (which, of course, means there will be plenty of tastings). There are also seminars for those who want to learn more about the proper pairings of food and drink, and even butchery classes for those who wish to buy their meat “in bulk”.

The Sunday Fair

The grand finale of the four-day event, the Sunday Fair, combines the free-wheeling feel of a farmer’s market with all the Texas flair that makes the Hill Fest famous. There are rows of vendor tents offering everything from T-shirts to tea-tree oil. Artists will have booths from which to showcase their wares, along with the familiar chef demonstrations, wine tastings and craft beer samplings.

It all adds up to a pleasant bombardment of the five senses, sure to propel anyone from the most persistent divorce doldrums. It’s a great chance to spend a day in Texas hill country, with the eclectic city of Austin providing so many other avenues of entertainment besides. For those whose breakups are already a part of history, Hill Fest provides a great environment for meeting new people with whom you already share a common taste for excellence in food and beverages.
